19DX Purple Urple (Northstar Glass) Pre-Order

Glass is coming out of the kilns now... custom screens are being fabricated and the 19DX will be ready for shipment on 1/22 (stretch) or by 1/29 (90% confidence).  Appreciate the faith Fam!

The 19DX is made from high quality German and US Schott glass, the screens are surgical grade stainless in Minnesota, and the patent pending cap shims are fabricated by hand along with the glass in Upstate NY in the Adirondack mountains.  Yes, it lacks the cold hard precision of the factory, but the little flaws are the art of humanity.

How it is made is described on a HerbalTherm YouTube video if you are curious to learn the many steps through the saw, wash, dry, heat / form, kiln cycle which leaves many wounded solders on the field.  I share this as to give insight into all that it takes to create these so that folks don't get sticker shock.  You will, however, get a piece with a sticker that says - Glass Art Made in the USA :)  Thanks to all who support the arts!

The 19DX is the big brother of the 14DE.   It is made on a 2.5 mm thick US joint and it has custom made screens to fit perfectly to the load tube.  The cap is made of German Duran Schott glass, aka world class glass.  It has the trademark square top and with everyone made by hand each and everyone has it own character.  The cap shim is made of surgical grade stainless steel mesh as to prevent off-gassing as would be the case for an o-ring seal.  The cap shim keeps the cap centered and the screen allows air to flow into the gap between the stem and the cap. This keeps the cap isolated from the stem imparting the perfect amount of conduction under the load to balance the incoming convection making for vapor that is pure heaven!  More can be found on the Glass Gap Heater Technology video on the HerbalTherm YouTube. Unlike it's little brother, the 14DE, it boast a larger load chamber, higher air flow and a 19 mm connection for some serious business.

Remeber to pick-up a spare cap for years of service as this is a craft batch build and may not be produced again as off to the next we go.
